December 15, 2023, a group of protesters calling themselves Shut It Down organized a demonstration near the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to demand an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the Gaza genocide. The protesters, who identified themselves as Palestinians, Jews, and Angelenos of conscience, marched around the airport for hours, blocking traffic and facing off with police. They carried signs that read “Stop the Gaza Genocide”, “Free Palestine”, and “Biden Out”. They also chanted slogans such as “No justice, no peace”, “Palestine lives matter”, and “End Apartheid.
