Sage brush and wind turbines fill the prairie in west Texas near Sweetwater, Texas, the wind energy capital of Texas.

Just west of Sweetwater, Texas, heading towards Lubbock one sees wind farms. Texas leads the USA in producing energy from wind. But the government incentives ran out in 2013. Texas now is working on getting power lines built so the power from the wind turbines will get to the power grid. Government will give tax credits to all projects filed in 2013 and built in the next two years. So there will be more wind farms till 2016.
