Colorado City, or Old Town, the oldest town in the stateand once the capital of the territory, lies on the road abouthalf way between Colorado Springs and Manitou. Settled in59, during the Pikes Peak excitement, it has been a busy,flourishing town, but now, in its old age, has settled downto the quiet of agricultural pursuits, good hay and pasturelands surrounding it. > t—I HO. Below the mesa, two hundred feet, is the valleyof Camp Creek, a small stream flowing out of Glen Eyrieacross the valley on the right; a rent in the hills makes a spotof great natural beauty with many of the rock formationspeculiar to the neighborhood; out of this beautiful receptionroom is Queens Canon, a grand gallery of rocks. In themidst of the beauties of Glen Eyrie is built an elegant privateresidence. Out of the valley further south rise what once must havebeen two or more solid and continuous ridges of rock ; nowthey are broken and separated, rising out of the earth in grace-ful swells, long and narrow waves that follow down the valleyin a line.
