Premature baby and doctor. Consultant paediatrician examining a premature baby housed in an incubator on a hospital neonatal ward. He is pressing a stethoscope to the baby's chest to listen to its heartbeat. A premature baby (born before 37-42 weeks of gestation) needs constant monitoring in a contained and controlled environment.
