Type: Antique 18th century copperplate sea chart. Antique folio sea chart of the east coast of England, orientated towards the west, from Hythe in Kent to Blyth, Northumberland. Insets of Harwich harbour, the Yarmouth Sands and the coast from Sunderland to Blyth on an enlarged scale, including the Tyne inland to Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The "Newcastle Trade" refers to the export of coal to Londo. Coal was being exported from Newcastle by 1250, and by 1350 the burgesses received a royal licence to export coal. The map is orientated towards the west.
