The Success of the Society. THERE is no instance in the historj of Life Assurance in which pro-gress has been more rapid or success more solid. Established in1815 without the adventitious aid of Shareholders capital, when LifeAssurance was all but unknown in Scotland, the operations of theSociety have attained a magnitude and wade-spread usefulness whichthe origihal founders could scarcely have anticipated. The remarkablesuccess which has attended the Society ever since it was founded isexhibited in the following Table of Statistics of the Progress of the Society.
