RuBisCO carbon fixation enzyme molecule. Computer model showing the structure of a molecule of the carbon fixation enzyme RuBisCO, from the spinach plant (Spinacia oleracea). RuBisCO stands for ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase oxygenase. The RuBisCO enzyme aids carbon fixation (such as photosynthesis), especially in plants kept in relative darkness. This structure is a hexadecamer with eight large and eight small subunits.
