Howe, on inauguration day, as has been the custom for a good many years. Stock having recuperated from the severe cutting it was subjected to at Christmas, prices are again reason- able. Carnations are down to the ordi- nary price; from $15 per hundred they have come down to $2 to $4 per hun- dred. Roses are steadily improving, especially Bridesmaids, which have been decidedly off color lately. The supply of violets is daily on the increase. Lucky is the violet grower who passed unscathed through the severe weather we have had. Daffodils are coming in limited quantity. With the lengthening days the stock in general is on the improve. Previous to Christmas the retailers all got together and agreed on a schedule of prices for the rest of the winter, but it is reported that some are not adhering to the agreement. W. A. Patten has gone to Plum Island to see how the life savers work, and get a much needed rest. Harvey Green is slated for a place on the newly created park commission. A. M. Maouoketa, Ia.—Mrs. John Odgers has remodeled one of her old greenhouses, erecting a modern one She reports good business. Galt, Ont.—Arthur J. Young reports business good.
