Earth's shadow. Time-exposure image of the horizon just after sunset. As the Sun sinks below the horizon, the shadow of the Earth is projected into the atmosphere in the opposite direction, seen as a dark band close to the horizon. As the Sun sets further, the shadow appears to rise. The images were each taken 4 minutes apart. Photographed in Brittany, France.
