Monarch Ancestry Tree. PASADENA, Calif. - A monarch festival with a Dia de los Muertos twist! At the Dia de los Muertos Monarch Butterfly Festival held in Pasadena on October 28, 2017, children and adults hang paper monarchs from a tree to represent past loved ones and overwintering monarchs. The festival was co-hosted by Friends of Washington Park, the City of Pasadena, and the Fish and Wildlife Service to generate awareness for monarch butterfly and pollinator conservation.
