Retired business of life, our subject is nowin the enjoyment of the fruits of his earlylabors. His residence in the beautiful cityof Ann Arbor is well adapted for the peaceful en-joyment of the serene years of older life. Althoughassociated in his business for a number of the interests of this city, Mr. Robison wasborn in Phelps, Ontario County, N. Y., his natalday being August 13, 1824. His father, AndrewKobison, was a native of the same State andcounty and was born November 18,1800. He wasa tanner and currier by trade and later was en-gaged in general farming. He was the son of JohnRobison, who born in Columbia County, PORTRAIT AND BIOGRAPHICAL ALBUM. 205 Y. and of Scotch-Irish descent, our subjects greatgrandfather, John Roliisoii, being born in theNorth of Ireland. The first paternal ancestor of hiiu vf whomwe write to emigrate to this coiiutr}- was his grcat-great-grandfatlier. His great-grandfather servedas a Captain in the War of the Revolution. Oursubjects mother was in her girlhood Miss GertrudeIloag, a native of Columbia Count_v, N. Y., thereborn in 1797. She was the daughter of AmaziahHoag, who was of English descent. Her motherwas Miss ^^1n Dusen and of Holland ancestr\-. An-drew Robison and Gertrude Hoag were married inOntario County, N. Y., February 27, 1823, andsoon after settled on a farm in the town of Phelpsand there he carried on the business o
