The city was also called Swarna Dwarka golden Dwarka because of its prosperity. Other beaching walking and bird watching, Bet Dwarka is also tagged as the adventure spots for swimming, boating and trekking. It even finds reference in the great Hindu epic of Mahabharata. After Shri Krishna killed his maternal uncle Kansa, his father in-law was enraged. In order to take revenge of his son-in-law, he attacked Mathura 17 times, along with his friend Kalayavan. Other spots in the temple are Shri Kapardi Vinayak and Shri Hanuman Temple in addition to Vallabhghat. Vallabhghat is a beautiful sunset point. The temple is illuminated every evening. The legendary city of Dvaraka was the dwelling place of Lord Krishna. It is believed that due to damage and destruction by the sea, Dvaraka has submerged six times and modern day Dwarka is therefore the seventh such city to be built in the area.
