A Kashmiri Shia Muslim light candles on graves on the occasion of Shab-e-Baraat. Every year, Shab-e-Barat is observed on the night between 14th and 15th of Sha'aban, which is the eighth month of the Islamic calendar. According to Islam, Shab-e-Barat means the night of forgiveness. It is considered to be the night when Allah forgives sinners. Shab-e-Barat is also known as Bara'a Night and Mid-Sha'ban. In The Arab world, it's referred to as Laylat al-Bara'at. The festival falls in the run up to Ramadan and is considered the night when Allah forgives sinners.
