The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at Shoreham Airshow 2007.

The Lancaster (PA474) of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight seen here with her wheels down passing over the airfield, at the Shoreham Airshow, West Sussex on 15 September 2007. The Lancaster is one of only two Lancasters still airworthy in the world (the other is in Canada) out of a total number of 7377 built. Manufactured in 1945, the aircraft never saw hostilities - she was to be used against Japan but the war ended before this could happen. Hurricane LF363, a MkIIc and part of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on display at the Shoreham Airshow 2007. The LF363 is believed to be the last Hurricane to enter service flying on the 1 January 1944. It served with 63, 309 (Polish) and 309 squadrons until the second world war ended. In this image the Hurricane displays the colours of Hurricane Mk1 P3878 YB-W of No 17 Squadron and flown by Flying Officer Harold Bird-Wilson during the Battle of Britain - based in southern England (and therefore in the middle of the action) mainly at Debden and Tangmere. Spitfire P7350, a MkIIa, of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight at Shoreham Airshow, West Sussex on 15 September 2007. The P7350 is the oldest airworthy Spitfire still flying, in the world today. The P7350 is also the only airworthy Spitfire to have fought in the Battle of Britain; coming into service in August 1940. Information courtesy of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight website.
