HMS Victory. Photochrom (photographic lithograph) of the Royal Navy's HMS Victory, moored at Portsmouth, UK, in the 1890s, with the White Ensign flying from its stern. 70 metres long, Victory was launched in 1765 but not commissioned until 1778. She was armed with 104 guns and is most famous for her role as Vice-Admiral Nelson's flagship during the Battle of Trafalgar (1805). Her active career ended in 1812, and she was used as a depot ship in Portsmouth. By the 1890s, she had been refitted as a Naval School of Telegraphy. In 1922, she was moved to a dry dock in Portsmouth and became a museum ship.
