Cartouche (lower part) in upper border also appears to be patched to central field; border may not belong to this field. See other tapestries with same border design & similar treatment: GCPA 0181853, 0181855. French & Flemish tapestries of similar subject are based on the "Italian Comedy" or "Fêtes Venitiennes". However, Bradshaw produced a totally new suite of scenes based on pictures by Watteau. This scene is designed on Watteau's "Plaisirs Champêtres" at Chantilly & "Les Bergers" at Potsdam, among other pictures by Watteau.
