As a rule, it is easy to find a dissatis- fied florist, but I am afraid it would l)e hard to find a retailer or a wholesaler who is not more than pleased in every way with his Easter business. Stock was of an excellent (juality and the weather was ideal up to Sunday. Nearly all the florists cleaned up on everything. Lilies were all sold out early Saturday. Many of the retailers report the Easter trade the heaviest in their history. It may be true that there have been Easters when higher prices were charged, but I doubt if there ever was a more satisfactory Easter. Lilies re- tailed at an average of .jO cents ])er bloom. Giganteum plants carried from three to six flowers and the formosums carried eight to twelve. Roses were in excellent demand, but it seemed nearly everyone wanted plants. Immense quan- tities of spiraeas, genistas, hyacinths, Jonquils, daff'odils and hydrangeas were moved. Tulips were never in greater abundance. Ramblers sold well. At present there seems to be an un- limited supply of cut flowers. Premier and Ophelia seem to compose the main supply in roses now. Violets are getting scarce. Sweet peas are getting better each day. Callas are plentiful. In the novelties one sees some fine stock of schizanthus, wallflowers and lupines. The lupines are in popular demand and seem to be taking the place of snap- dragons. Valley is scarce. Various Notes.
