Filtering impurities from rock salt. The natural rock salt has been ground and dissolved in warm water. All of the salt, sodium chloride, dissolves, leaving a suspension of mineral and organic impurities. These are filtered out in the filter funnel. The liquor that is collected is then evaporated leaving only the pure crystalline salt behind.
