The Turkish Medjidi Tabia Or Abdul Medjidi Fortress 1841-53 In Silistra, Bulgaria


this fort in silistre is the only Turnovo fortress left on the Balkan peninsula. it was named after sultan Abdul medjid who visited in 1947. the fort was important in various Russia Turnovo wars. silistra itself is on the banks of the Danube and after belong to both Bulgaria and Romania at various times was finally confirmed as Bulgarian by the Paris peace treaty of 1947
