Wine paraphernalia in the Velistsikhe museum in the Kakheti Valley in Georgia, located in a recently restored 16th century winery with a thousand year old vessels and huge collection of wine instruments - including turn of the century presses from France. Georgia is feted as the oldest wine growing country in the world; historians saying that the lushly fertile valley of Kakheti, which lies at the foot of the Greater Caucasus Mountains, has been producing the cherished tipple for more than 8000 years. The Georgian government is now hoping to reinvent the Kakheti Valley for wine tourism.
