If inaddition to this a portion of intestine, which is reducible, formsthe contents of the sac, it is found possible to control the latterwith a pad, while the former requires only the support of the belt. It is exceptional to find patients even with irreducibleomentum in umbilical hernia complaining of more than discom-fort, and this is relieved by proper support.
