Poppies grow in the shadow of the Sword of Sacrifice which stands in Rancourt Military cemetery one of the many hundreds of Commonwealth War Graves Cemeteries CWGC on the Somme battlefields of northern France 2006. The battle of the Somme began on 1st of July 1916 and on the first day 60,000 British and Commonwealth troops were dead or injured or missing.
