In size and brilliancy of flowers,in magnificence of growth and foliage, this new departure in Cannas has not been equaled. The flowers of the Italia are indeed of extraordinary beauty. Ourillustratiouis from life, slightly reduced in size. The ground color of the flower is golden yellow, the three upper segments being heavily blotched with two shades of scarlet. The lower segment, as will be noticed, is the widest, being thus entirely distinct from other Cannas. This and the fifth segment are bright scarlet edged with golden yellow. In growl h this Canna is majestic. The plant is aremarkably free bloomer and stands hot weather better than other Cannas. Each 75c, per doz. $ "Alsace" ( White Canna). A vigorous grower, with clear green foliage, four feet high ; produces from twelve to eighteen shoots in a season from a single eye. An early and continuous bloomer. Spikes of flowers full, dense, crowded with flow- ers, which, upon opening, are of a delicate sul- phur yellow, changing very soon, however, to a creamy white without spots. We had a row of 1000 plants, which, while in bloom, was a solid mass of white, a grand and novel sight. Having accumulated a considerable stock, we have, not- withstanding the great novelty of the plant, made the price very low. Each 5<"C, 12 $, lco $ Chicago. The large flowers open out nearly flat, petals 1% inches wide and five in number ; in this respect the Chicago fairly out-classes all Cannas, the fifth leaf adding muck to the blossom and flower spike.
