Then he returned toPainesville, and in May, 1866, moved with his family toMacon, Missouri, where he engaged in an extensive practicein the State and Federal courts. In December of 1878 hereturned to Ohio, and on January i, 1879, settled in Cleve-land, where he resided until his death. In 1883 he was elected State Senator from CuyahogaCounty, being the first Democratic Senator from this countyfor thirty years.
