This small blood vessel is composed of endothelial cell lining wall (two parallel horizontal slightly curved pink lines) and is filled with red blood cells (bright red) and a few white blood cells (dark blue dots). Around this blood vessel are adipocytes (fat cells), which are the clear white structures at the top and bottom of the image. Haematoxylin and eosin stained tissue section. Magnification: 400x when printed at 10 centimetres.
