Erosion still continues along the chalk cliffs with regular rockfalls and more cracking as Coastguard Cottage No 3 is prepared for owners anticipated another 5 years use of the family holiday home. Built in 1878 the largest years previous recorded erosion was 16 ft in the 1930's. This will be the third cottage in the block to be lost to erosion the first, no 1 was demolished in 1972 followed by no 2 in record erosion has been caused by storms, high tides, Southerly gales and record rainfall that has softened the chalk. © David Burr/Alamy Live News
