It breeds in great numbers on the islands of the southern shores of the Sea of Okhotsk (Middendorff, Sibirische Reise, ii. p. 240}; whence its range extends eastwards to the Commander Islands, the Aleutian Islands, and the islands on the southern coast of Alaska as far south as Sitka; and northwards through Bering Straits to Cape Lisburne. 276.
