Once the Soviet strategic lifeline between the USSR and its southern ally cum satellite. Built along the route down which all past invaders had come after having crossed the Dariali pass. Along the way there are a number of tunnels or covered stretches of road that seem to have no other purpose than to hide convoys from prying NATO eyes. Back in the days
