He entertained La Fayette at his country houseat Bolton, Massachusetts, in 1824. This portrait was paintedin 1805 in Mr. Wilders counting house, and won a medalat the Paris Salon of 1805; it is still in the possession of canvas: H. 36^-2 inches; W. 29 inches.
