One week accumulated global precipitation from 4-10 August 2014. The colour-coding (low to high) is: cyan, green, yellow (less than 100 millimetres), orange (100mm), red (200mm), and purple (over 300mm). Typhoon Halong is seen near Japan. The track of Hurricane Bertha is seen off the eastern coast of the USA, and a rare August storm is seen over the North Sea near Europe. Also visible are the origins of Hurricane Gonzalo on the western coast of Africa, and a deep tropical depression that produced floods across northern India. Data from IMERG (Integrated multi-satellite retrievals for GPM [Global Precipitation Measurement]).
