He-waseducated at the University of Virginia, gradnating fromthe Academic Department in ISfiB and from the MedicalDepartment with the degree of in 1S70. He was alsograduated, in 1872, from the Medical Department of the University of the City ofNew York. Subsequent-ly he served in the Char-ity Hospital, in the NewYork City Asylum for theInsane, in the ColoredHome Hospital, and inthe Epileptic and Para-lytic Hospital on Black-wells Island, ac(iuiringin these institutions awide and valuable expe-rience.
