CLAY NATIONAL GUARD CENTER-HANGER 1, Marietta, Ga. Jan 8, 2015 - A new year brings new changes to Georgia's Department of Defense. Thursday afternoon Maj. Gen. Jim Butterworth ceremoniously alligated the responsibilities as state’s adjutant general to Brig. Gen. Joseph Jarrard. The change also placed Americus, Georgia native and 28-year Georgia National Guard Veteran, Col. Thomas Carden, as the commander of the Army National Guard and assistant adjutant general. Both posts held by Jarrard for the past three years. Carden says the changes will not affect business as usual for Georgia’s DOD.
