SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket stage landing. Successful propulsive vertical landing of the first stage of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. This pioneering achievement enables SpaceX to reuse their rocket stages much more rapidly than other reusable systems. This landing took place on a drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean. The launch was the CRS-8 (Commercial Resupply Services) mission to the International Space Station (ISS). The launch and landing took place on 8 April 2016. SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies) is a private US aerospace and space transport services company. It was founded in 2002 and has developed the Falcon rockets and the Dragon spacecraft. Future plans include crewed flights to Mars.
