View of El Morro, New Mexico, taken from "the ground level" where there is a visitors' site, camp ground and the start of the trail to the summit. El Morro means "the Headland" in Spanish. It was a landmark for travellers from the ancient settlers of the land, the Spanish Conquistadores and later Ameriacan settlers heading for a better life in the west. A constant water supply at the foot of the cliff ensured regular visitors to the site.
