Spinal nerve ganglion. Light micrograph of a section through a spinal nerve ganglion, a node of nerve cells located just outside of the spinal cord at the point where it is joined by the spinal nerve. This collection of nerve cells (neurones, light pink) is responsible for processing sensory information or for coordinating impulses from other neurones. Each neurone is surrounded by flattened support cells (dark pink) called glial cells. Bundles of nerve fibres (blue) are also seen.
