He marriedHannah, daughter of Peter Waymouth, of Mal-borough, Devon, in 1705, and died in 1729. He left two sons, Thomas and Elias ; and ThomasNewcomen, son of the inventor, compiled a pedigreewith a view to proving his claim to the Irish baronetcy,but probably abandoned the attempt from want offunds to prosecute the claim. 1 Although of gentle blood, Thomas Newcomen, sonof Elias, and the inventor, was a tradesman in Dart- Worthy (C), Devonshire Parishes, II, pp. 371-4.
