A German or Austrian silver-mounted officer's sabre, circa 1780 Single-edged blade with a double-edged point, with double fullers on both sides. The blued root decorated with gilt etching in perfect condition, the monogram "N I" inscribed below the quillons on the obverse. Silver knuckle-bow hilt decorated with a floral relief, the grip wrapped with fine corded silver wire. Leather-covered wooden scabbard, the silver mounts finely chased with blossom and rocaille ornaments on a matt background. Two silver suspension rings, the drag in iron.
