Marine worm larva. Tornaria larva of a hemichordate worm-like marine animal. Tornaria larvae are the free-swimming juvenile form of hemichordates. They are often found as a constituent of plankton and will eventually metamorphose into young worms. Hemichordates are primitive animals dating back to the Lower or Middle Cambrian periods.
