Length to about 22 inches. Color: Pinkish red above shading into pink below; a narrow clear pink stripe extends the length of the lateral line. Distribution: From about Magdalena Bay, Lower California, north at least to Ft. Bragg. Most common in Southern and Central California. Fishing Season: Throughout the year. Importance: With the bocaccio, the most important Central California rockfish. Minor in Northern California. One of the three leading Southern California species. Fishing Gear: Trawls, lines.
