Although not nluch was directly done in the matter, a start was made which promises to aid in clearing the markets of goods, which lately have not found any out let. The majority seemed to think thai the best method would be to allow the boys to sell on the streets. Wm. Penn gave an interesting talk in which he bitterly scored some of the present methods of selling goods. As he said, it seems to be the growers of a poor grade of tiowers. and those who do not get too cents on the dollar, that are doing most of the grumbling. Thomas Capers, of Wellesley, has nearly every nook and corner of his carnation houses filled with Jerusa- lem cherries. They are very good plants and are selling fast. He finds this a very good way to use the space needed after Christmas for his young stock. One of the best selling carnations coming to the market is "Alice," grown by Peter Fisher, of Ellis, Mass. Its clear color, a beautiful shade of blush i>ink, and its exceptional keep- ing qualities make it very popular. N. M. Silverman, the prominent Win- ter street florist, is confined to his home on account of sickness. He is ..gaining rapidly and expects to be able to personally care for his Christmas trade. S. J. Goddard, of Framingham, is cutting very fine earnations at present. His Gloriosa is especially worthy of note. Yellow Prince also does well with him. J. W. Foote, of Reading, Mass., h
