The eggs whichproduce these little creatures are laid two or threefeet underground by a great nasty-looking white grub,the size of a mans little finger. When the insects arefirst hatched they are about an eighth of an inch long,of a creamy white appearance, and resemble a louse inshape. These grow to be one-fourth of an inch long,and then make their way through the streets, avenues,and halls of their colony up to the surface of theground, and keep on building up until so
