Height, 23% inches; u-idth, 7 feet IOV2 inches. 392—Silk Velvet and Gold Wall Hanging Woven in transverse section or oblong mats in a series of eight,each with a peony medallion and sprays in gold on a golden-brown velvet ground, bordered by floral scrolls worked in thesoft velvet pile which here is a shimmering pale blue-green, overa ground of gold thread. Eighteenth century. Length, 8 feet 4ii inchen: width, 9 feet. 393—Large Silk Velvet Wall Hanging Oblong field almost iridescent in the shimmer of the orange,brown, pinkish and flame-hucd velvet and the varied threads inwhich the ornament is woven, the ornamentation including twophtenixes in the form of a central medallion, a phoenix at eachcorner, peonies, melons, leaves and scrolls. Wide border of silver-blue, orange-pink and white bats flying among silver-white cloudscrolls, all in tlie thread, on a Nile-green silk velvet ground. Eighteenth century.
