Thousands of Gazans participated in this Friday's weekly march and according to the Gaza Health Ministry, Ihab Atallah Hussein Abed, 25, was shot dead on the east of Rafah, while more then 20 Palestinians were also injured by Israeli forces, including a paramedic and a journalist. Israeli forces were deployed across the borders of the Gaza Strip to suppress the weekly Friday protests firing live ammunition and tear gas at them, while some Palestinian protesters hurled stones towards the fence. According to the Israeli army, some Palestinian protesters also burnt tires along the border to blur the view of the Israeli snipers. Hamas' politburo chief, Ismail Haniyeh, joined the protests near Malika on the east of the Gaza City. The "Great March of Return" demonstrations began on March 30th by thousands of Palestinian civilians in Gaza to protest against the ongoing Israeli siege on Gaza and to demand the right of return of Palestinian refugees to their original homelands, now in present-day Israel. Protesters have been facing a high death toll as well as a great number of injuries and the UN has raised concern about the excessive use of force employed by Israeli troops
