Ejection.—By the acceleration impressed on the extractor by the end ofa flat ejector-spring riding over a cam-shaped projection on its rim. Note.—In opening the breech, the firing-pin in case of accidentallysticking forward, is loosened in its hole and is always drawn back, byengaging with a notched retractor, through the head of which, alsonotched, motion is imparted by a corresponding tooth on the rim of theextractor. The friction-fly being pressed by its spring against the lower surfaceof the breech-block, enables the latter to remain closed against slightdisturbances when the support of the hammer is ? lit If!
