Coast line at Salgerhoej cliffs. Mors, Denmark.


Cliff formation Salgjerhoj on the island of Mors, Denmark. The red rocks in the foreground consist of stones, gravel, and sand, which has been rushed together by water containing iron. The cliff itself contains mo-clay, which was formed during the Tertiary period for some 55 million years ago. The porous mo-clay is used for insulation and many other purposes and can contain fossils of plants and animals. The shorelines at this part of the island is a favorite location for fossil hunters.
