Early Neolithic archaeological site of Gobekli Tepe Sanliurfa province South East Turkey


Low and high relief of fox and another animal on damaged pillar. The site dating from the early (pre-pottery) Neolithic was discovered on a man-made hill facing the Mesopotamian Harran Plain, South East Turkey. The T-shaped stones contain carvings of snakes, spiders, vultures, scorpions, cattle, extinct aurochs, wild boar and anthropomorphic forms.
