Irish immigants in New York City queue to send money to family members suffering from the famine of 1879 in Ireland. The famine, known as the mini-famine, was not as fatal as the Great Famines of the 1740´s, but partial failure of the potato crop caused hunger and malnutrition, particularly in the west of Ireland. After an illustration in Frank Leslie's illustrated newspaper March, 1880.
