Ptolemaic Egyptian statue sculpture of Ptolemy XII, ist c. BC, Marble . Louvre Museum inv MND 1960 or Ma 3449. Ptolemy XII, father of the famous Cleopatra, ruled over Greek Egypt twice from 80 to 58 BC, then from 55 to 51 BC. Illegitimate son of Ptolemy IX, the nose, mouth and chin have been tadded to while the frontal locks seem to have been erased. This may have been headband which equated the king with Dionysus.
