Moscow Kremlin Tour - 67. Tsar cannon and cathedrals. The cannon was cast in 1586 by the Russian gun maker Andrey Chokhov. Moscow, Russia, Monday, August 04, 2014. The cannon has been never used for military purposes though traces has been found of one or two test shots using 800 kg of stone chips. Four cannonballs were made in 1834 just for fun and decorative purposes. The cannon is registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest bombard by caliber in the world. It is made of bronze, is meters ( ft) long, weighs tonnes, the internal diameter of the barrel is 890 mm ( in), the external diameter - 1200 mm ( in). The cannon was restored in 1980.
