Shigatse, Tibet Autonomous Region, China : Shigatse Dzong (fort) first built in the 17th century as a smaller prototype of the Potala palace before the capital was moved to Lhasa. It was destroyed during the Chinese Cultural Revolution in 1961, and then rebuilt in 2007 as a museum.
